Where Women Create 2011

So, every year participating in Where Women Create's blog party.......I am in a different place.....the first one I admitted my crafting space was part of master bedroom.......last year I had a store with a studio with cabinets!!!!!! This year I am creating on the sales counter of my store.
I keep everything I need in this Vera Bradley mini suitcase........they are discontinued...but, you could probably still find them on ebay.
Love the mesh pocket for my most needed supplies........
It holds my blank cards.....double stick tape.......mat paper........stickles..........
My copies of old postcards and sayings I apply to them...............
These are the cards and journals I make..........what I find ironic is what I make sells......sells a lot....I just made 50 cards on Monday to replenish what I sold over the weekend. So, what I now focus on making the cards at the store and the scrapbooks I make from record album covers at home. We are at a point of downsizing our home so, when we settle into someplace new hopefully I can have some studio space again.
The store had a dressing room.....but that is used by my husband to make his clocks.....they far outsell everything else and he will make clocks while a customer waits for special requests so it does make sense he has the space.....So, I just make the cards on the counter when there is some slow time........our hours are long so there are some lulls during the day. So........I don't have the creative space that I had before.......but, I am actually happier. It's nice to be focused and not have a lot of stuff that is not being used hanging around.....it sort of like a weight lifted off my shoulders.......even though a space of my own was always a dream come true.....it's hard when you are sharing the space. It's nice to adjust to what you have available.......in other words.....Bloom Where You Are Planted!!!!!

All sorts of love for old postcards! My friend and I waste (um, SPEND) lots of time looking through them in antique stores, much to the consternation of our hubbies and kids!

I hope you'll have time to visit my spaces...

Jersey Shore - terrible show - but great place to spend time. Spent summers in my youth in Sea Isle City and later Ocean City/Wildwood. Congrats on your sales!

Thanks for your La-boratory love!

How wonderful that you and your husband are so creative together.
My hat is off to you for being able to create so marvelously with such a limited area. Kudos to you for making a business doing something you love.
Keep smiling and creating

What a great attitude - creating is not about the size of the studio, it is about the love of creating!

I loved this post and your attitude! And that you are happy in your simpler, condensed creative space. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the STUFF I accumulate, that I get nothing accomplished. Simplifying can be a very good thing. Time for me to stop hoarding and start DOING.

Wow, how cool that you and hubby can create your works of art in your store. Your store/work space must be an inspirational place, I can see why you create beautiful cards.
Your Vera Bradley bag is such a smart way to tote your "studio" around. Maybe there's another style similar to yours at her store.I'll have to go check it out; we finally have one here in Hawaii.
Thank you for sharing your space, your "studio" tote and your wonderful art cards.
