Postcard Friendship Friday

Greetings from Red Bank, New Jersey.  My favorite postcards are greeting from postcards.  I want to show my collection.  I really didn't know where to start.  I was going to do postcards from Manasquan---where I live now.  But, I decided it would be really cool to show the postcard view and then take a picture of how it looks now.  I need to work on that.  Hopefully, I will be able to do that this week.
I chose the Red Bank postcard because Red Bank has been on my mind lately.  Lisa Kettell is planning an Art Opera for April 7-10 2010.  It will feature talented teachers, vendors and shopping excursions......Red Bank has a great antique district.  She will be announcing it soon on her blog and has set up a ning site so you can preview the site.  I am so excited New Jersey will have an artist's retreat venue.  I am really looking forward to this!!!!!

Looking forward to the Grand Opening

We have been getting some really nice treats from the other stores this week.  The sunflower card was handmade and signed by the team at Thousand Oaks, California.  It includes well wishes from all at their store.  The accordion card was sent from the Cambridge store and each page was created by a different person at the store.  It was so thoughtful and kind of the other stores to share with us.....I just had to share with my readers.  The book on the bottom our store made to bring with us when we trained in Chicago.  The cover is Sue Lindstrom the founder of Paper Source.
We learned while training that the wrapping paper with the Senior Portrait High School pictures all worked for Paper Source.  So, we thought it would be fun to make an album and have everyone sign it.  It was a great way to meet everyone too.  We have a great keepsake from our trip!!!!!
We also put up our first store window this week.  The window says I love my calender girl.  The designs on the paper were made with stencils and a versamark pad.  Our paper is perfect for that technique.....if you want to see a close-up click on the picture.  We have our Grand Opening this Saturday and I hope I am not too busy to take pictures to share.

Where Bloggers Create Party

My favorite place to create is at Creative Escape in Arizona.  Well, Silver Bella was my favorite place to create in Omaha, Nebraska......well really anywhere I travel to and create is my favorite place to create.  Actually my dining room table shared with Zandra every other Sunday would be my favorite place to create......
But, creating outside last Sunday was a great place to create.........
And then there is my Hoosier cabinet I use for my embellishments and ribbons that could be my favorite place.............
I do love my studio......these little drawers I picked up in my neighborhood----someone was throwing it away......I couldn't wait to decoupage it and add some fun handles........
But, this year was full of surprises......I now get to create at work.   This is our demo table at Paper Source in Princeton.....the other side is full of drawers of paper, scissors, templates, rubber stamps, and ink pads.......so this blogger gets to be creative everyday.........so this blogger creates where she works and plays and couldn't be happier!!!  But, what is great about this party is I get to see where other bloggers create........I love peeking into studios whether on flickr, two peas galleries, Where Women Create magazine......I just love seeing where you all create.  I can't wait to see all the bloggers participating in this party.   Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment it say HI!!!!!!!

Postcard Friendship Friday

These are the postcards I picked out for the favorite paintings I saw this week at the Princeton University Art Museum.  Where I work is right across the street.  Anytime I visit a Museum I always purchase a handful of postcards of my favorites to add to my collection.  I am looking forward to showing more of my collection of postcards.  This is a great way to document my collection.  If you like postcards and would like to look at more, follow me to Marie's blog who has a list of participators each week for her Postcard Friendship Friday Party.

Summer at it's BEST

This is how my day started.....I wanted to line envelopes for Ian and Kaylyn's Graduation Thank You notes.  But, most of all I wanted to soak up the sun.
So, I brought everything I needed out and I got started.......I loved started the day like this.  I was able to do some laundry.  I brought everything inside and my husband and I shared lunch and dinner outside......it was the perfect day.......My favorite part of the day was perfect Jersey corn eaten outside.....the weather was wonderful.
I ended the day with a visit from my friend Zandra.  We try to get together on Sunday nights to scrap together.  I think we are up to 4 years----it could be longer????  We put the last of our charms on the bracelet swap.  I wish I could remember to have links by me when I post......Zandra has dived into the blogosphere----I have to include a link sometime soon!!!!!

Embracing Summer

Yesterday I ventured across the street to look at Princeton's Art Museum.....Oh my I can't believe this collection is right across the street.  Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Manet and Van Gogh and I only ventured into 3 rooms.  I will share some postcards of the works I saw on Postcard Friendship Friday.....The museum is free and I only had an half an hour, and I am going to try to venture over as much as I can.
I walk by scenes like this almost everyday and took the time to finally get close up and take some pictures.
I took some time to finally take a picture of the store.  I love the sunflowers!!!  Welcome summer.  Today is a beautiful sunny Sunday.
This is where I will be embracing summer today......right here in the backyard.  I took this picture yesterday.  Whenever my husband and I utter the words of selling this house---we get some different birds hanging out in our backyard.  Can you see it in front of the ladder--I don't even know what it is.  But, whenever they appear I feel they are here to make me appreciate all that I have.  Glen sided the shed this summer.....I need to add some flowers......maybe today......maybe not......I am looking forward to soaking in all the sounds and sights of summer in my backyard today.......Those chaise lounges are calling my name......I hope you get the chance to embrace all that summer brings your way today!

Postcard Friday

I have been meaning to participate in this for a long time.  Marie holds this fun event every Friday.  Marie is from France and first left a comment for me when my family arrived home from Paris in January.  I thought it would be a great way to document my collection of vintage postcards.  I think they are the greatest inspiration to me.
I love to craft with these postcards the most.  Most postcards I have to make color copies of to work with.  So, lately I made charms with these.  During the holidays I glitter them up and try to add some kind of vintage trinket and a ribbon to hang as ornaments.
As you can see I have plenty.  When I go to sell them in person I hear people whispering--"these are
reproductions".......and I really don't know if they are or not.  They are in good shape and there is no postmark to show for sure.  So, I just started using them for crafting.  Not, only do I love them because I have so many.....but, I love the colors.....the sky especially.  They also evoke a time in History I wish I lived during.  It may have been hot, but I would love the beach more if
I could be covered like the old days.  I also love them because this is the town across the inlet from where we live.....it shows summer living at its best.  Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment to say hi!!  And, yes Marie you are not the only one----I am completely addicted to the computer!!!!!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!!!!!!!

Charm Bracelet Swap

This picture does not do this swap any justice.  It is a very exciting swap and I am thrilled to be part of it.  I did receive the box in the middle of working long days merchandising the store.
I was coming home quite exhausted and I finally have my energy back to get this going.
It is going to be a little delay, but Zandra and I promise to be finished by the end of next week and in the mail the 20th----promise!!!!!!   I didn't want to show the bracelet and spoil any surprises.  But, I did want to give you a sneak peek.  I am using old Point Pleasant post cards and cutting out a small image and putting in my charms.  I think you can get an idea on the bottom of the picture you can see the charms on the postcards.  A nice surprise was the inclusion of postcards from the participants from around the country.  This makes this swap extra special and of course I love the pouches that were all hand sewn by Sandy from Sew Revived who is the hostess of this swap.  We have two more charming bloggers who will be adding charms.  Pam from Frippery and Jodie from Everything Vintage and when I get my bracelet back I promise to show pictures of the bracelet.  I also would like to thank Malinda who included a taste of Kentucky Bar B Q sauce.  My husband barbecued some chicken last night--it was yummy!

Greetings from Princeton

Go Princeton Tigers!!!!
A whole wall mixed Media in the Princeton Library installed in 2004.
This is what I walked by on my way back to my car today.  I had the chance to walk around the community today.  It is an amazing town, and I love being in the discovery phase of a new place.  We are getting the store ready and I can't wait to share pictures when we are done.  The first thing I am showing you is the demo table---it is a dream---they thought of everything designing this table!  I also was involved in a couple of Marie Antionette swaps I can't wait to share.  And, the coolest swap is a charm bracelet round robin.  I don't have the links right now, but I will share with pictures soon.
