The Big Picture

So, if you read my blog you might remember we spent the day we dropped Kaylyn and Ian off at the University of the Arts at the Magic Gardens.  The city is full of Isaiah's Murals.  It is an amazing place and if I remember right----I called it the coolest place on earth.  It is right there on South Street in Philadelphia.
So, this is the bottom of Kate's mosiac mural in Asbury Park......I never knew it exsisted before last week.  When Kate and I started emailing back and forth last week.....I asked if she was influenced by the murals in Philadelphia???  And she told me she took a class with Isaiah and when she opened her store she had some time on her hands.......so she started gluing the tile on and David Christopher grouted the wall......Isn't it amazing!!!!  It took them 6 months I think she said..........she closed her store in 2001.  Last Saturday I started asking people about the mural----(at that point I had only caught a glimpse of it from my car) and everyone knew of Kate and her gallery.  So, on Monday I open my computer and there is an email from Kate.  She introduces herself and says she had a garage sale and she had leftover trims and scraps that she had collected over the years.  She wondered if I would be interested....of course, by the way.  But, I want to know about the mosaic mural........then she goes on to tell me that while I am in Asbury Park finding information about her......she is in Philadelphia riding down South Street with..................Isaiah looking at maybe moving to Philadelphia.   Oh my goodness.......I am just amazed.......so we set up a meeting for Thursday.  I will continue the story in my next post!

I never knew about that site in Philadelphia. Must put it on my list of things to see.

Is it raining there yet? We have strange water coming from the sky. I think it is rain! Woo-hoo.

How exciting! I love mosaics, and keep telling myself to create a mosaic project. Maybe this will be the inspiration. Have a lovely weekend.
